Early Civilizations
You need a good mix of primary, secondary and tertiary sources to do your work.
Primary -- Eyewitness accounts
Documents from witnesses and participants in the historical event, first-hand accounts
Look for: Speeches, journals, photographs, letters, news articles, images, artifacts, pottery (note that some of these could be secondary too, so think about when they were created.)
Secondary -- Analyze and quote from eyewitness accounts
Documents from journalists, scholars, and writers that provide detailed perspectives on events, quote or interpret primary sources directly
Ex. news articles, textbooks, nonfiction texts like biographies
Tertiary -- summarize or list information
Sometimes grouped with secondary sources, provide article-length summaries or lists of events
Ex. Encyclopedias, indexes
